MD/PhD Student
Elaine Yip
Elaine is an MD/PhD student in UCLA-Caltech Medical Scientist Training Program. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, with a minor in Mathematics, from Hamilton College, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. During college, she pursued her passions in infectious diseases and global health as an Infection and Immunity visiting student at University College London Medical School. After graduation, she worked as a research assistant at Rockefeller University under the guidance of Drs. Charles Rice and Margaret MacDonald, focusing on the development of vaccines and nanobodies against flaviviruses.
As a PhD student in the HALab, Elaine is excited to pursue research addressing the global burden of infectious diseases. Outside the lab, she enjoys rock climbing, backpacking, kayaking, and all things outdoors.
