Maya Weissman

QC Bio Fellow

Maya Weissman is a QCBio Postdoctoral Fellow collaborating with the HALab to study allele specific immunity. Maya is from Orlando, Florida and received her Bachelors from San Diego State University. Maya did her PhD at Brown University, where her thesis focused on the evolution of risk reduction strategies in changing environments. Here at UCLA, Maya primarily conducts research with the Garud Lab, where she studies the genomic signatures of adaptation in the gut microbiome. Maya is a huge population genetics nerd, and is excited to apply her theoretical skills to the important problems related to malaria vaccine development. Outside of work, Maya loves baking, painting with watercolors, and hiking.
